This is book 17 in the series — enough with the Stand Alone Stuffing! There is way too much fluff, way too much piddling around in meaningless conversations, way too little time spent investigating and actually traee the bad guys. Louis, new playthings in tow, and life is back to some shade of normal.
Things have also reached a head in Anita’s personal life. Max and Bibi were too easy to deal with. Than the books could focus on that and her being a necromancer. Eternal Kiss of Darkness. The end of the book was the weakest part by far. Not focusing on sex allowed her to focus on the case and Edward, Olaf and Bernardo.

And you know what? Then all of the other characters present can utter their own mundane and inane reactions to whatever that thought might be. Mostly, it will not surprise you to learn, these thoughts have to do with Anita’s sex life, and whether she is or is not a slut. And because my author has issues.

That said, endless fights with the cops, repetitive conversations, and more wangst than an emo teenager’s LiveJournal make this book a drag and a bore to get through. In a very classic Anita-ness no-one actually has TIME to investigate so we then have the standard bad guy-kidnaps-people instead game.
This one just seemed to be there for no reason other than the fact that Anita slept with a 16 year old.
