These are the ones written by Sadler or at least ghost written for him with his name on the book. The Brotherhood of the Lamb is a fanatical religious sect and sworn enemy of Casca. Casca Longinus is their path back to Christ and they will stop at nothing in keeping their most hated enemy in their sights for all time.

Danny first meets Casca in book 34 Devil’s Horseman and gradually takes over from Goldman as his biographer. He is THE soldier at Christ’s crucifixion who thrusts a spear into the dying Jesus’ side as told in the story from the Bible.

It is too brief and does not describe the theme of regret and repentance that this legionnaire follows through history for his actions as simply a foot soldier following orders without thinking. Casca did not initially understand what was happening to him until he was condemned to work in labor mines over a year period. This story is a very revealing, and interesting, insight into how one soldier views his life of fighting and pain.

Unbeknown to the Eternal Mercenary, this family slowly grows and seeks to thwart the efforts of the Brotherhood. The main character is great.
Casca is easily recognizable by the cascs facial scar that he possesses.
Oh but he also curses you to be a soldier forever at war, never to know peace. Even better, he had taken Casca’s advice and beat the hell out of his wife with a stout rod. I’ll probably try dasca few more in the series to find out where Sadler is going to take this character.

I read this, and I can easily see where it has similar themes to those others, but may have been single-handedly responsible for my interest in the lone immortal hero, the one who suffers most by outliving everything he’ll ever love.
